Workshop Description:
The workshops will begin each day with a dynamic Release-based class which will lead into improvisation and choreographic tasks, with time for reflective practices, group discussion, and some sharing of material made. Class will comprise elements of experiential anatomy, somatic practice, and improvisation alongside complex and challenging exercises and movement sequences. This approach aims to marry feeling with form, keeping the felt embodiment and experimentation of improvisation within the clarity and technical awareness of set material, and vice versa. The class aims to be thoughtful and explorative as well as energising and empowering.
After the break, we will draw from the approaches in class to generate choreography. This will incorporate writing, drawing, and documenting from witnessing others and from our own musings. We will work individually, in duets, and in larger groups with stimulating and inspiring tasks to expand our understanding of making dances.
