We are beyond excited to welcome back Nicole Bradley-Browning for a special 1-Day TRADE Lab workshop in November for Arizona dancers!
This workshop is sliding scale, $20 - $35, pre-registration required, no drop-ins. Workshop capped at 22 participants. TRADE Labs are partially funded by the City of Tempe – Community Arts Grant.
Contact Improvisations 3 C’s: Curiosity, Care, and Community
This workshop is for dancers who are passionate about Contact Improvisation and have some prior experience in the form. It is best suited for those with some or an intermediate to advanced background in CI—dancers who are comfortable with physical touch, weight sharing, and navigating improvised movement in partnership.
Together, we’ll explore how curiosity can deepen our movement choices, how care shapes our interactions, and how community emerges through shared physical inquiry.
We will begin with somatic grounding practice, falling to the center of the earth, to awaken three-dimensional awareness and senses. From there, we will practice scores that guide the dancer’s orientation to self, space, and partners. Together, we will explore structures that increase our capacity to listen, yield, flow, support, co-create, and safely risk. The intentional underscore of this workshop is the 3 C’s: curiosity, care, and community.
Note: This workshop is not designed for absolute beginners or those brand new to touch-based movement practices. If you are looking for a total beginner friendly CI class, reach out to Nicole directly for more info on her community offerings!
